Do you have a food you never grow tired of eating? You're probably picturing it right now, conjuring up how it looks, feels, tastes, and smells. No matter how many times you eat this particular food, it still gives you the same simple pleasure: one part happy belly, two parts fond memories, one part total comfort. A recipe for food nostalgia.

That's My Jam! (Cheesiness Intended)

Well, fruit jam is my never-grow-tired-of-it comfort food. But it's not like I eat it by the spoonful from the jar. (Woah, talk about a sugar rush.) My favorite way to eat jam is on hot buttered toast (or an English muffin). I'll first liberally apply butter, let it start to melt, then smear the toast with strawberry jam, blackberry jam, or orange marmalade. Those are my favorites. And I always pair it with a hot beverage like cocoa, coffee, or tea.

This is the ultimate combo in my eyes: a hot drink to warm your insides and a crunchy, creamy, salty & sweet snack to nibble on in between slurps. Throw in a comfy chair, a soft blanket + a good book and I'm in heaven!

If you need an example of my love for this snack, just know I can't keep track of how many toasts & teas I gulped down (for comfort, ahem) while reading through all the Gillian Flynn novels. Those books are intense! My fingers were gripping the pages white-knuckled trying to speed to the end of each one. I know my fellow bibliophiles can relate.

Dallas has an Insane Number of Grocery Stores

As you can imagine, I like to keep a jar or five of jam stocked in my pantry, which isn't difficult given where I live. One of the greatest aspects of living smack dab in the middle of a huge city like Dallas is access to an abundance of grocery stores. I just did the math on my fingers and I have 14 different establishments within a 2-15 minute drive of my home where I can buy groceries.

Seems crazy, right? It actually makes me feel a little self-conscious. I know many of you (especially if you live in a rural area) only have 1-3 stores nearby unless you're willing to drive 30-60 minutes into the next big town.

Trust me, I'm in foodie heaven having so many options all the time. But it sure makes me feel spoiled when I go back to Kansas, Northern Texas, or Colorado to visit family and our local shopping options are narrowed down to one or two places.

Easy to Find Fruit Spread Naturally Sweetened with Honey

This is why it's so important for me to share this new Smucker's Fruit and Honey Fruit Spread with you today. Y'all know I love my jam, and I want every single one of you to have access to a quality preserves made with real food ingredients no matter your location. Not everyone has an affordable farmers markets nearby, knows how to can their own jams from fresh fruit, or has time to go to multiple stores looking for a specific brand.

Most folks are in a hurry and want to pick up their groceries quickly from a store close to their home or work. Smuckers is a big name brand so they're easy to find in most places. It comforts me to know that my grandma, who lives in a very small town and always shops at either Walmart or Tom Thumb's, will now be able to buy delicious, not-too-sweet fruit preserves (she always has 3-5 in her fridge) made with simple ingredients like fruit and honey. The same goes from my two sisters who both live in small towns.

Grocery Shopping Nostalgia (It's a Real Thing)

This fruit and honey fruit spread is a fairly new item, so I went to my local Kroger's to pick it up and made my boyfriend tag along. Shopping at Kroger's (with my guy in tow) makes me nostalgic for 6-7 years ago when he first moved down to Rockwall, Texas after graduating college.

I still lived in Kansas City and was attending UMKC, so I only got to see him every 3-6 months for over four years. Long distance relationships are tough! Everytime I flew down for a weekend, we'd go to Krogers so I could grab groceries for dinner and breakfast since he ate out all the time. Ah, the good ol' days.

These days it gives me great pleasure to force make him tag along since he generally avoids shopping with me. He always says, "You take for-ev-er and I hate waiting around."

Well, one of us has to read the ingredients on the back label and compare prices, ya'll! Not everyone likes to grab for the shiny pretty things on the shelves like a toddler. Ahem.

Anyhow, I took my sweet time grabbing the fruit and honey fruit spread and a few other ingredients for a baked brie recipe featuring the triple berry flavor (strawberry, blueberry & blackberry). You'll see it here on the blog very soon! I even stopped to smell the flowers outside the store, although as I quickly found out, they had no smell. C'est la vie.

What's Jam Without Peanut Butter? Everything.

When I got home from the store, I noodled for awhile on what to share with y'all regarding jam. I thought about the most popular way that fruit spreads are used in the average household: on peanut butter and jelly and sandwiches.

Are they delicious? Yes.

Quick to make? Yep.

Tiresome after eating day in and day out? Definitely!

So many folks buy jam exclusively for making peanut butter sandwiches and never experiment with it for other recipes. You might have a jar of preserves sitting in your fridge or pantry right now that is oh so lonely and begging to be popped open.

Now is the time! Take a gander at the list below for lots of ideas for incorporating jam into both sweet and savory foods.
